Dance Assembly is a program of instructional dance lessons that will be offered to all 6th Grade Students at Northbrook Junior High and St Norbert School. This tradition averages over 90% participation for the sixth-grade class and is only offered during this grade level.
Starting in February 2023, your sixth-grade student will have the opportunity to learn different styles of social dancing and etiquette. The four dance lessons are organized by the NBJH PTO and will be taught by the professional and fun dance instructor, Vera Schmidt. Dances such as the Cha Cha, Box Step, Fox Trot, and Swing will be taught. Other social dances, such as line dances and free style, will also be offered. The course also covers social graces, etiquette and behavior.
All lessons will be held in the NBJH Gymnasium. The course will be held on Saturdays, February 25th, March 4th, March 11th, and March 18th from 6:00-7:15 pm. Your sixth-grader will be given a preview demonstration during X-Block on Thursday, February 9th with the acclaimed instructor, Vera Schmidt.
The cost of this four-week course is $65 per student. This payment is non-refundable. We want everyone who is interested to be able to attend, and scholarship funds are available in a confidential manner – please contact either Ellen Silva or Heather Miehl, PTO Dance Assembly Committee Chairpersons, for more information.
